Mumbai is set to witness a cinematic spectacle as John Abraham and director Rohit Shetty join forces for their next big project, an action-packed film inspired by former Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria’s autobiography, Let Me Say It Now. The yet-untitled movie, which promises to dive deep into Maria’s illustrious career and high-profile cases, will commence shooting on April 18 at Esel Studio in Trombay. With a budget exceeding ₹100 crore, Shetty is pulling out all the stops to deliver a gritty, larger-than-life portrayal of one of Mumbai’s most celebrated cops.

Shetty, known for his high-octane blockbusters, has meticulously planned a four-month shooting schedule, aiming to wrap a significant portion of the film by June-end. The production will span 40 iconic Mumbai locations, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dongri, and the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, to authentically capture the city’s pulse. “Rohit wants to recreate the raw energy of Mumbai’s streets while staying true to Maria’s journey,” an insider reveals.

The first schedule will focus on Maria’s early days in the police force, with around 150 crew members on set, including action coordinators, prosthetics experts, and a dedicated research team to ensure accuracy. A massive set replicating the Maharashtra ATS headquarters is also being constructed at Esel Studio, adding to the film’s ambitious scope. John Abraham, who is to portray Maria, brings his signature intensity and physicality to the role, making him a perfect fit for the action-heavy narrative.
